LEARNING ABOUT APPLES

During the past weeks we have been learning about apples

We watched a great video that explained lots of things about apples and how they grow:

we also made a simple sequencing activity:

We completed a board with the things we knew about apples

If you are working on apples there is no better story than TEN APPLES UP ON TOP and i found and adorable video of the book sang in the style of Jason Mraz. Kids simply LOVE IT:

We have also done some apple investigation: Each kid brough an apple and we analized its parts and its color. We can write color words with the help of our color spelling charts. Then we did an apple print (our favorite part of the activity)

we also tasted apples to see which apple (green, red or yellow) is our favorite:

MORE AND MORE APPLES

This are our apple related math activities: First kids did sums and number recognition

In order to practice our spacial and temporal knowledge we sequence this apple.

We learned about the life cycle of an apple tree and then the kids color and complete the sequence.

AN APPLE INVESTIGATION AND 10 APPLES UP ON TOP by Dr. Seuss

EXPERIMENT: AN APPLE INVESTIGATION ( I can't find the blog where i got this great idea)
In small groups kids analyze a real apple seeing all its parts and completing a simple worksheet. They loved this activity specially the apple print part :) 

TEN APPLES UP ON TOP. 
My students loooooved the story 10 apples up on top by Dr. Seuss. After reading it we created our class book: I gave each kid a card with one number and they had to cut and glue the appropriate number of apples on top of them,complete the sentence and draw themselves. Some of the drawings are simply amazing.

We graph our favourite apples by giving each kid an apple to color and then place on the chart to later on analyze it.

We started our apples week by talking about where apples and other fruits and vegetables grow.  On the board we drew fruit and vegetables according to where we think they grow to then complete a simple worksheet by coloring cutting and gluing accordingly. 

                                       

Using a poster we learned the parts of an apple to then label our apples.
