MORE PHONICS ACTIVITIES

Here are some of the activities we do in class related to sounds recognition and reading.

1. buzz game
Using the sound cards, we place them in a basket. In some of them we draw a bee in the back.  We gather children in a circle, one by one they take a card from the basket, and they hold it up and say the sound. If they get a BUZZ card, everyone gets up, buzzes around like a bee and sit down. As children play they build letter recognition, listening and oral language skills.

As the kids collect sounds we ask them to try to create words with the sounds they have and they do it amazingly well.

2. The snap Game
We write certain sounds on the board and as we do the action the kids have to snap the appropriate sound we can then ask them to say a word  containing that sound.

3. POWER TOWERS
A set of paper cups stored inside of a Pringles box. On the bottom of each cup there is a reading word. Kids are going to make a tower with the cups, before placing a cup they must read the word appropriately.
It can be performed as a group competitive game: Kids in two groups. They must create a tower of six cups each.

3. MATCHINGWORDS TO PICTURES
To practice their understanding of what they are readingwe play these games where we have to match words to pictures

4. complete words on the smartboard

EASTER BUNNY CAME TO CLASS

So we are officially on holidays for ten days hooray!!! and i am back in Gijon with my family and friends. I'm not enjoying very much the rainy days but it's fantastic to be back home.

Yesterday Easter bunny came to class and these are all the things we have been doing.

After recess we came back to class and found all these pawprint in class:

so we started looking for our chocolate eggs:

                                                           and we found them:

we wore our bunny ears and colored our faces with our bunny
                                     noses and whiskers.

Then Rose Mary told us a beautiful Easter story:

Enjoy your holidays everybody and have a fantastic time with your loved ones

SHOW AND TELL in class

One of my kiddo's daddy has a horse, so we asked him to come to class and talk about horses to the kids.
They asked him lots of questions and he showed us his horse's equipment.

MORE HORSES ACTIVITIES

COMPUTER ACTIVITIES.
At computer time we have been playing lots of horses games... and doing lots of horses activities.

                                  CENTERS WORK

We learned that horses are measured by hand so we are doing the same with the kiddos. NExt week when everybody is measured we will graph the results to see how tall we are:

We measured horses using our cubbies and compared their sizes.

We also did a read the room activitiy where we had to sort words containing "ai" "j" "g" "ee" sounds.

We did an activity where we had to find words starting with the "H" sound

at playing time on e of my kiddos made the letter "H" with blocks and then he realized that if he put lots of H together he could make a fence.

Through some oral activities we revised some horses knowledge and then we learned names of parts of horses equipment.
